Therapy Tailored to Your Needs

My philosophy draws on many resources to effectively attend to needs of the individual and their situation. While some struggles may require a more formal adherence to a specific process, many will benefit from more of an eclectic touch.

EMDR

Eye-Movement
Desensitization & Reprocessing

(EMDR) is a psychotherapy approach designed to help people process and heal from traumatic experiences. During EMDR, a therapist guides the patient through a series of structured sessions involving bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, while the patient recalls distressing memories.

This process helps the brain reprocess these memories, reducing their emotional charge and integrating them more adaptively. EMDR is often used to treat conditions like PTSD, anxiety, and depression.

DBT

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy designed to help individuals manage intense emotions and improve their interpersonal relationships. It combines traditional cognitive-behavioral techniques with concepts from Eastern mindfulness practices.

DBT focuses on four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. The therapy aims to help individuals balance acceptance and change, build skills to handle difficult situations, and develop healthier ways of thinking and behaving.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT is a structured, goal-oriented psychotherapy that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. It helps individuals recognize how their thoughts influence their emotions and actions, and teaches them strategies to challenge and modify these thoughts.

By addressing distorted thinking and developing healthier coping mechanisms, CBT aims to improve mood, reduce anxiety, and enhance overall functioning.

EFT

Emotionally Focused Therapy

EFT is a structured approach to couples and individual therapy that emphasizes the importance of emotions in relationships. It focuses on helping clients understand and express their feelings, improving emotional responsiveness and attachment between partners.

EFT aims to create stronger, more secure bonds by addressing negative interaction patterns, fostering emotional connection, and enhancing relationship satisfaction.

MI

Motivational Interviewing

MI is a client-centered counseling approach designed to enhance motivation and commitment to change. It involves a collaborative conversation where the therapist helps individuals explore and resolve ambivalence about behavior change.

By using open-ended questions, reflective listening, and affirmations, MI aims to strengthen a person's intrinsic motivation and support them in making positive changes in their behavior.
